The Assembly is a political role-playing-game enfolding on a video-conferencing platform. Its ever-evolving narrative is co-created by the players, Oscar Wilde aphorisms and pre-recorded deepfakes of contemporary political figures warped through the perspective of a parallel universe. Aspiring to hack the algorithm of selfhood, reprogram national self-understandings and debug the European Union, it envisions the political leadership of the European Commission in an alternate 2020. What if Turkish pop-star Tarkan came out as gay in 2003, Turkey joined the EU in 2009, the Syrian civil uprising of 2011 led to democratic reforms instead of civil war and the UK’s 2016 Brexit referendum resulted with the decision to remain?
