Social Sculpture – Temporal Communities

Details

We are pleased to announce a practice-based laboratory, featuring Stephanie Comilang, Rosalia Namsai Engchuan, Soydivision, members of EXC 2020 Temporal Communities, Research Area 2 and metaLAB (at) fu_berlin.

To attend, please RSVP to Lieselotte Schinzing, with your full name, address and telephone number: l.schinzing@fu-berlin.de. Please note, this is a 2G event limited to 15 guests. Proof of vaccination or recovery status will be required.

The one-day event, titled “Social Sculpture – Temporal Communities”, is part of the research transfer project “Circulating Narratives – Entangling Communities: Case Studies in Global Performance Art” in collaboration with Hamburger Bahnhof – Museum für Gegenwart – Berlin. The project is hosted at the international research Cluster of Excellence EXC 2020 “Temporal Communities: Doing Literature in a Global Perspective” at Freie Universität Berlin and accompanies the museum’s exhibition, “Nation, Narration, Narcosis: Collecting Entanglements and Embodied Histories”.

The laboratory contributes to the project’s broader inquiry into how embodied creative practices, such as performance, can unfold alternative narratives, practices of embodying histories and the transfer of embodied knowledge. The laboratory will feature a program of practice-led workshops led by artists, who will take the exhibition as a starting point for experimentation. The lab will be accompanied by researchers from EXC 2020 Temporal Communities, Research Area 2 and metaLAB(at)fu_berlin in collaboration with metaLAB(at)Harvard and incorporates the “Narration and Embodiment” video series of the Project: “Circulating Narratives – Entangling Communities: Case Studies in Global  Performance Art” (published online 1 December 2021).
